A bag is everything? Isn't it?

People use a variety of bags for a number of reasons in their daily lives. Women, more than men, typically carry bags with them to carry their whole lives with them, dumping everything for the day.

It has been estimated that the average person can use a total of 13,000 plastic bags in their lifetime. More than ever before, people are ever more concerned with the use of plastic and looking for environmentally friendly changes they can make to their lives. Since the established plastic bag tax implemented across the world, the use of single use plastic has dramatically decreased.

Why does it matter?

Our environment and planet are suffering increasingly due to our use of plastic. It is now believed that there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. Did you know that of that mass, there is a total of 269,000 tons float on the surface, while an estimated four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometre litter the deep sea.

This has an incredibly negative impact on marine life, whilst can often end up on our plates. A study earlier this year found microplastics have been found in humans, which suggests that these are quite widespread in the human food chain. Plastic doesn’t stop in the sea, it stops on your plate!

So what now?

We believe that humanity should use less plastic. We seek to support sustainable fashion whilst promoting the use of non-plastic bag alternatives. At Get Knotted, we seek to empower humanity to say no to plastic and choose other options.
